Rain or Shine

If you live in Colorado, you know that we can't always count on the forecast. The weather shifts moods constantly and weather reports rarely come true. All we can do is take our best guess, check the radar, and my personal favorite, look at the sky. While unpredictable in many ways, Colorado weather does NOT have a poker face. When those big heavy clouds come between you and the front range, you know you're going to catch wind (literally) of that storm.

I don't mind a change in weather. You grow up in Colorado and you learn to pack layers. Umbrellas. A change of shoes.

When it comes to weddings and nervous brides, though, I wish we could hire an Etsy witch and request the perfect forecast of 75, partly sunny, breezy, and dry. When you've watched the weather forecast all week and it decides to rain halfway through your ceremony processional, there's no choice but to pivot!

It might seem stressful to make a last minute change to your wedding day. Something that I always think about is that whatever temperature or precipitation you end up with, there is always a silver lining. Your friends and family have a great story, and there are almost always the most EPIC photos as a result.

This September wedding took place at the beautiful Windsong Estate Event Center. Thank goodness Kiley and Jeff were so excited to get married and went along with the weather as it changed their plans. We moved guests inside, snuggled in, and got these two married with the rain pouring down outside the picture windows. These stunning photos by Booze Photography would not have been possible without a little storm rolling through, and THAT SKY!

As I mentioned before, Colorado doesn't always do what you expect. So the second the ceremony ended, the sun came back out and gave these two the most sunny and bright images of their dessert and post-nuptial bliss.

I mean 😍😍😍 can you EVEN?! We could not have ASKED for a more beautiful weather pattern. So if you're a bride or groom and you're worried about the weather...

  1. Make a plan A (let's get married outside!)

  2. Make a plan B (we'll move the ceremony inside)

  3. Make a plan C (we'll start our ceremony outside but have to stop before the bride walks down because a torrential downpour came out of nowhere and move everyone in!)

Juuuuust kidding (mostly). That's what your coordinator or planner is there for. We chat about the options beforehand and we pivot if we have to! And if you took my recommendation to hire Brenda (Booze Photography) she'll work her magic and take advantage of whatever weather is weathering.

And as they say, rain on your wedding day is good luck. A wet knot is harder to untie. We might as well get a laugh, make amazing memories, and capture the chaos because either way, YOU ARE MARRIED!
